We have talked about the importance of a free diaphragm, abdomen and chest. Now let's add on some funs facts about breathing. According to James Nestor in his book BREATH, it is imperative for our health to breathe in our noses! The air gets directly to our lungs, whereas in mouth breathing much of it goes to our stomachs and does not become part of the gas exchange process that get's O2 and releases CO2, all of which is vital to our metabolism and overall health. So, even in exercise, really focus on inhaling through our nose to our diaphragm and exhaling through our mouths, and even slower than what you'd think. More on exhaling and rate to come!
