Touch For Health - A brief Introduction

The Touch for Health System is designed to maintain postural and energetic equilibrium through muscle balancing, utilizing techniques of applied Kinesiology and acupressure touch in a holostic, non-diagnostic model of wellness.

I love this description of Health quoted from The Touch for Health Guide:

Health is an experience of well being--physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, socially--integrated in the whole person and soul.

In 1964 George Goodheart DC introduced the principles of applied kinesiology.

1972 Dr John Thie served as Chairman of the International College of Applied Kinesiology and was very instrumental in the progression of Touch for Health until his death in 2005.

He and his son Matthew are the authors of the book used to teach the practice. Earl and Gail Cook are my instructors of the techniques and balances I will be utilizing.

From ancient to contemporary times, the practice of prayer, meditation, exercise, balalnced diet and positive thinking have been the potent tools supporting humanity in its quest for optimum health in body, mind and spirit.

TFH is based on the energetic model of traditional Chinese medicine/acupunture. The idea is that there is a life force that, when in balance and flowing, naturally supports Wellness. In this model, discomfort, pain, illness and disease are seen as symptoms of imbalance or blockage in the vital energy or life force of a person. Identifying the blockages by testing for over active or under locking muscles associated with meridians, and the organs attached to that meridian, shows the picture of where to go and which techniques to use to balance the meridian flow.

Of course, there are times, especially with sudden or acute conditions, we also rely on

medical advances to assist us. Our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made, wanting to be in balance. Utilizing these techniques, along with other approaches, can assist in moving toward optimum wellness.

Beginning April 1st, you will have the opportunity to schedule a Touch for Health balance as a treatment option. The balances generally take about an hour and will cost the same as a manual therapy session. We will determine the type of balance at time of treatment and walk you through the steps. Frequency of TFH balances are individual to you.

My hope is this will be a positive addition to Your Well Zone!

BE WELL!
